What is your STYLE of eyewear?

5 comments
This was originally posted on The Classy Closet but I did want to share this information with my readers too!

As I sit here and write this I am squinting. Not because I do not have eyeglasses(because I do). It is because I have a mental block for some reason that makes me not want to wear them. Please tell me I am not the only one with this problem. I only recently had to get them about two years ago and they are just for reading. It started with the annoying headaches and the strain of my eyes. I figured what the heck it is time to get them.

I think it is more of getting use to having prescription glasses. I went twenty four years without them and then all in a matter of months(real job in front of a computer for eight hours) did it. I guess that is the way it normally goes. It is just an adjustment. What I do like about having glasses at all is that there are some pretty stylish pairs you can get. I never want to sacrifice my style you know!

Eyeglass frames have really changes from the past ten to twenty years and thank goodness. I will say that my glasses(that I really should wear more) are super purple cute. I have a peanut head so I do have to get them in the kiddo section but I lucked out with a stylish pair. What style do you have if you wear glasses? On guys I think a thicker frame is always really stylish. I think for women it depends on hair length and face shape.

So do you have any advice for choosing out the best style of glasses?? Please share you advice with those of eyes just starting to wear them!!

Disclosure: Glasses USA sponsored this post. They compensated me for my time. This review reflects my honest opinion based on my experience with the site and has not, in any way been edited by them.

Long weekend of fun(Mardi Gras Parades)

2 comments
I hope you don't think I have forgotten about you lately!  My world has been so hectic with Mardi Gras season taking full force this past week.  I do want to fill you in on a few things.

First and most importantly, I did launch my series Her {SO}cial Bag and episode 1 is now available for you to watch(and subscribe).  I held the live event on Vokle.com and I had a blast.  I will continue to have a monthly event for the series and you are always invited.

Secondly I rode in a Mardi Gras parade this past Friday and this is a video of the morning trip to the retirement home with my float members and this is a video of my ride!

So what did you do over this long holiday weekend?  Any fun??!

Community vs Tribe(One in the same)?

5 comments
Before this year started I sat down to really set goals for myself that I wanted to see happen in 2010. I thought about the direction on my community site, my blog, my consulting and my videos (basically my place on the web). So then that took me to my next thought...where is my place on the web and do I need a "place"? I know there is definitely a community that I am in but do I have a tribe? Yes I do...in fact I feel like there is a few tribes I reside in. I do want to say though that I do not think any tribe, community, group, et cetera should define who you are in the rankings of social media. You should not allow for it.

When I first began my online journey, I wanted to be accepted by "the" community/tribes. The fact of the matter was I had no idea what I was doing and just jumped in feet first. If you are at the beginning of your journey and you are not sure who your tribe is, don't fret. You will find them and they will find you. Let it be organic because sometimes "trying to fit the mold" dampens who you really are. Luckily, I have found what I am good at(no matter what they say, lol).

I thought I would ask my Twitter friends if they thought a community and a tribe were one in the same. Here are the responses:

  1. Michael Durwinmdurwin

    @KeepItClassyJen tribes can be spread over multiple communities or several tribes can make up one community.

  2. Michael Durwinmdurwin

    @KeepItClassyJen no

  3.  ErynLeighbra

    @KeepItClassyJen I'm proper PTA mom offline. I don't feel those constraints with my online girls/tribe.

  4. lisa j lehmannthebeadgirl

    @KeepItClassyJen i would have to say no. they can be...but definitely not necessarily.

  5. Terri Ktkharmonic

    @KeepItClassyJen I would think a community could be composed of multiple tribes, JMO

  6. Pickles&SugarPlumsPickleSugarPlum

    @KeepItClassyJen nope.

  7. Kendra Tillmangoodlifediva

    RT @KeepItClassyJen Do you think community and tribe are one in the same? // great question. my first thought would be yes.

  8. CecilyCecilyk

    @KeepItClassyJen Because my community is made up of lots of different viewpoints and beliefs, but my tribe is more in synch with my beliefs.

  9.  ErynLeighbra

    @KeepItClassyJen Not for me. My community = IRL, my tribe=my net friends, who I could run around in a loin cloth with ;)

  10. CecilyCecilyk

    @KeepItClassyJen That's a great question, and I'd say no. :)

So what do you think? Is finding your tribe/community vital in your online growth?
